One of our biggest goals at Dr. J. Whitley Wills’s office is to keep our patients in optimal oral health, which is why we use some of the latest technology to provide advanced screenings for oral cancer in Memphis, Tennessee. For more information on oral cancer screenings, our advanced technology, or your oral health, we invite you to call or visit our dentist soon. We look forward to providing you with the answers and care you need.

During your regular visits to our office, our doctor will make a thorough examination of your oral health and function. An important part of this examination is your oral cancer screenings. Oral cancer, which can affect your lips, tongue cheeks, throat (pharynx), sinuses, and hard and soft palate, is most successfully treated the earlier it is caught. When caught later in its progression, during its more advanced stages, oral cancer can be difficult to treat and even life-threatening. That is why our team does everything we can detect, diagnose and treat oral cancer and other oral abnormalities in their earliest stages.

During your own oral hygiene routines, keep a look out for any of the following oral cancer symptoms:

  • A consistent feeling of having something caught in your throat
  • A persistent sore throat
  • Unexplained bleeding in the mouth
  • A sore on the face, neck or mouth that bleeds easily and lasts for longer than two weeks
  • Unexplained numbness or pain in the face, neck or mouth
  • Persistent earaches
  • Lumps, bumps or rough spots on the gums, lips or other parts of the mouth
  • Red, white or speckled patches in the mouth
  • Consistent difficulty chewing, speaking or swallowing
  • Changes in the way your teeth or dentures fit together

If you are experiencing any of the above symptoms, contact our office for an oral cancer screening. While our team will keep an eye our for these and other symptoms, we encourage you to keep track of oral abnormalities and to reach our if you experience these or any other kinds of oral pain.
